S-Timer - a timer application for mobile phones
S-Timer is a free (also Free Software and Open Source) timer application for some Java MIDP (midlet) enabled mobile phones. It has Timers which in turn have multiple Times or intervals. Times count down from initial values to zero one after another.
S-Timer is useful if you do e.g. some sports excercises or are a couch and want to do something else than watch the clock. You can do 1 min training and 30 sec rest five times in a row without checking the time, because S-Timer gives alarms when specified times reach zero. It can of course be used as a simple tea timer or "egg clock".
S-Timer is quite similar to countdown timers in some Nokia phones but can handle seconds instead of just minutes. The drawback of being external java application is that it can not give alarms while you are doing something else with your phone. Still it can kind of run in the background. 2004-09-02: Tested with success in Siemens C60. Has been reported to work in Nokia 7250i.
2004-03-13: Nokia 6610 has been tested - and it works!. The tested version was 0.83.
2004-01-19: Nokia 5100 has been tested - Application error. There is version 0.83 for Nokia, but it is only for new sound and vibra.
2003-12-17: I have come into a conclusion that Nokia has bad support for Java MIDP. Models 3510i, 3650 and 6310i has been tested now. They all gave different errors, 3510i and 6310i with application crash. 3650 doesn't play sound even though I tried to do it in another way. Nokia emulators work now and they don't give those errors. Siemens M50, M55 and C55 work fine.
2003-11-18: The new version of Siemens emulator does not work with Wine. Also Nokia Series 40 MIDP Concept SDK Beta 0.3 emulator gives null pointer exception. So I cannot do anything right now. Not that I would have much time or enthusiasm.
2003-08-30: I have been and will be silent for some time, but will be back some day.
2003-06-17: I had an opportunity to test S-Timer with Nokia 3510i. It didn't work very well - apparently the java implementation is different from that of Siemens. Further work is needed.
2003-03-24: Downloading succeeded at last. Siemens seems to require correct content-type and absolute reference to jar file in the jad file. I updated the download section.
2003-03-23: Problems with downloading may be solved soon. Siemens probably needs correct content-type from the server. I have placed the files in http://koti.mbnet.fi/eelik/. I will tell if it works.
2003-03-18: New version, 0.82, is downloadable. There are versions for Siemens and Nokia. Changes are mainly cosmetic and source code cleanup.
2003-03-18: Still we have not succeeded to download java apps with Siemens M50 or C55. I changed download section a bit and made some minor enhancements to these pages.
